What is LinkedIn Crossclimb?

LinkedIn Crossclimb is a daily word puzzle available for free on the LinkedIn platform. It was introduced as part of LinkedIn’s growing collection of games, alongside other titles like Pinpoint and Queens. The idea behind it was simple: give professionals a fun, quick brain exercise during the day without leaving the app.

The puzzle works in two steps. First, you are given a set of trivia clues. Each clue has a one-word answer. Once you figure out the words, the second challenge begins: you have to arrange them in a specific order so that each word differs from the one above it by exactly one letter. That sequence is called the word ladder, and getting it right is what completes the puzzle.

For example, the word COLD could connect to CORD by changing one letter, and CORD could connect to WORD the same way. That kind of chain is exactly what you are building in Crossclimb, except the clues make it both easier and trickier at the same time.

How the puzzle works, step by step

  1. Read each trivia clue and guess the correct word answer.
  2. Rearrange the words so each one connects to the next by changing just one letter.
  3. Complete the full word ladder from top to bottom to finish the puzzle.

The game resets every day at midnight, so there is always a fresh puzzle waiting for you. Most players finish it in a few minutes, though some days it genuinely takes longer depending on how tricky the clues are.

How Crossclimb works

You get seven words arranged in a vertical ladder. The catch is that each word must differ from the one directly above and below it by exactly one letter. Just one. Swap a single letter, and you move to the next rung.

The top and bottom rows are locked. Both come with clues, and once you solve them you know exactly where the ladder starts and where it ends. That gives you two anchor points to work from. The five words in the middle are where it gets interesting. You have to figure out both the correct answers and the right order to place them in.

It sounds manageable at first. Then you sit there staring at five words that all need to connect letter by letter and realize the order matters just as much as the answers themselves.

Every stepping stone has to be a real word. You cannot just swap letters randomly and hope for the best. Each rung of the ladder has to make sense on its own, and it has to connect cleanly to the rungs on either side of it.

Tips before you check the answer

Before scrolling to the full solution, try these approaches. A lot of the time, one small shift in thinking is all you need to crack the puzzle on your own.

  • Start with the clue you are most confident about: You do not have to solve the clues in order. Skip the ones that stump you and come back after locking in the easier answers first.
  • Look at the letter patterns: Once you have two or three words, compare their letters side by side. Sometimes you can work out where a tricky word fits just by looking at what letters need to change.
  • Say the words out loud: It sounds odd, but hearing the words instead of just reading them can help your brain spot connections faster than staring at the screen.
  • Do not overthink the trivia: The answers are almost always common, everyday words. If you are thinking of something obscure or complicated, you are probably going in the wrong direction.

Still stuck after all that? No problem at all. Scroll down to find today’s full Crossclimb answer with a clear explanation of how the word ladder fits together.
