Epic Games Offering Fortnite Refunds for D4vd Cosmetics After Allegations Surface

Epic Games just made a big move for Fortnite players who bought D4vd cosmetics. If you grabbed any of these items, you can now get a refund, thanks to some troubling news about the singer behind them.

Why is everyone talking about D4vd in Fortnite?

D4vd, whose real name is David Anthony Burke, is a 21-year-old U.S. singer who’s been charged with the murder of a 14-year-old girl named Celeste Rivas Hernandez. The incident allegedly happened around April 23, 2025, after Celeste reportedly threatened to report their relationship. Burke has pleaded not guilty to serious charges, including first-degree murder and other disturbing accusations.

With such heavy allegations, Fortnite players quickly started asking Epic Games to remove D4vd-related content from the game. This includes popular items like the Feel It and Trophy Drop emotes, as well as the What Are You Waiting For and Locked and Loaded Jam Tracks.

Epic’s response: Refunds are here, more changes coming

Epic Games responded to player concerns by confirming that refunds are now available. If you bought any D4vd cosmetics, you can request a refund through Fortnite’s player support team right away. Even better, starting April 28th, a self-service refund option will be available. That means you won’t have to wait for support to process your request – you’ll be able to handle it yourself instantly.

The Fortnite Status Twitter account posted, “We hear the concerns. We have a bunch of changes we’re rolling out over time. The first one will be available on Tuesday, April 28th, when anyone who purchased one of these items will be able to get an immediate self-service refund. And, right now, players who request refunds for D4vd cosmetics via player support can be refunded.”

Some players who received D4vd cosmetics without buying them, like through tournament rewards, are now asking Epic to remove those items from their accounts. Epic hasn’t officially said if they’ll remove all D4vd cosmetics from the game yet, but their mention of “a bunch of changes” suggests that could happen down the line.

What does this mean for Fortnite players?

If you’re one of the many players who picked up D4vd emotes or jam tracks, you have options now. You can get your money back by reaching out to player support or wait for the self-service refund system that launches on April 28th. Epic’s willingness to act quickly shows they’re taking player concerns seriously in light of the serious allegations against Burke.

For those who don’t want to see or hold onto these cosmetics anymore, keep an eye on future updates. Epic hinted more changes are coming, which could include removing D4vd content entirely.

It’s rare to see a developer react so directly to something this serious, but Fortnite’s community clearly voiced their discomfort loudly enough to get Epic’s attention. If you want to avoid the controversy, now’s the time to request that refund.
