Fortnite Profile Picture Customization Confirmed

Fortnite players, get ready for a little shake-up in how you show off your style. Epic Games CEO Tim Sweeney confirmed that soon, you won’t be stuck with your profile picture changing every time you switch skins. Instead, you’ll be able to pick a custom profile picture that stays the same no matter what outfit you wear in-game.

How Profile Pictures Work Now and What’s Changing

For years, Fortnite has tied your profile picture directly to the skin you’re currently rocking. That meant if you swapped skins, your avatar picture switched too. It’s been a bit limiting, especially compared to platforms like Steam or Xbox where you can set a unique avatar that sticks around. Now, Tim Sweeney stepped onto X (formerly Twitter) to say this is changing. He mentioned, “The ability to choose a permanent PFP that doesn’t change when you change your outfit is definitely coming.”

Thanks for your thoughts. The team is working on a revamp of this profile pic system and I’ll share this with them. The ability to choose a permanent pfp that doesn’t change when you change your outfit is definitely coming.

This means you could finally pick a profile picture that truly represents you, independent of your character’s look. Whether you’re jumping into Battle Royale, playing LEGO Fortnite, or checking out the Fortnite Festival, your chosen profile picture will follow you everywhere.

Customization Options Still Unclear, More Details Expected

So far, Epic hasn’t shared exactly what the customization options will look like. Will you be able to upload your own images? Or will there be a selection of cool Fortnite-themed profile pics to choose from? That’s still up in the air.

There’s also talk among players that this might open up a whole new cosmetic category. Imagine grabbing rare or legendary profile pictures in future Battle Passes or buying them from the Item Shop. It’s a smart move for Epic, giving players another way to personalize their Fortnite identity.

For now, all we know is that this feature is on its way and promises to make your profile stand out without forcing you to stick to the skin you’re currently wearing.

It’s a small change, but it’s one that could make a big difference for how Fortnite fans express themselves. No more profile picture surprises every time you switch outfits. Just pick your favorite image and let it ride.

What do you think? Ready to pick a profile picture that’s all you? Or hoping to see some wild custom options? Either way, keep an eye out – this update looks like it’s coming real soon.
