Here’s a quick one for you: PUBG: Blindspot, the top-down spin-off of the famous PUBG battle royale, is shutting down before it even hits its two-month mark in early access. Released in early February, the game will close its doors on March 30th. That’s a pretty short run, especially for a PUBG-related title.
Why Did PUBG: Blindspot Call It Quits So Fast?
The folks behind PUBG: Blindspot, ARC Team, shared an update explaining the shutdown. They said they explored many ways to make the game better and move it forward, but in the end, they couldn’t keep delivering the experience they promised during early access. Player experience was their priority, and they felt it was best to stop rather than continue struggling.
Even though Blindspot had mostly positive reviews and some solid gameplay ideas (imagine a top-down Rainbow Six Siege with a hint of Hotline Miami), it just didn’t attract enough players to keep going. While PUBG: Battlegrounds still dominates the charts and racks up record revenues for Krafton, its little spin-off cousin couldn’t find the same kind of footing.
What’s Next for the Team and Krafton?
ARC Team said they’ll take some time to regroup and hope to come back with new experiences down the road. As for Krafton, they’re still riding high thanks to PUBG: Battlegrounds, which topped $2 billion in annual revenue for 2025. That’s a lot of money, but it seems like not every PUBG experiment is destined for success.
Krafton has another PUBG spin-off called PUBG: Black Budget in development, which is a first-person extraction shooter with some timewarp elements. So, while Blindspot didn’t work out, the company’s not giving up on branching out from the core PUBG experience just yet.
In the meantime, PUBG: Blindspot’s early access journey comes to an end on March 30th, leaving behind a short but memorable attempt at mixing things up in the PUBG universe.
