If you’ve been hanging around the Splitgate scene, here’s some fresh news: 1047 Games, the studio behind Splitgate, is working on a brand-new project. It’s still early days, but they’re already reaching out to fans of fast-paced shooters like Titanfall and Black Ops 3 to help them test it out.
1047 Games is ready to try something new beyond Splitgate
1047 Games has always dreamed of growing beyond just one game. CEO Ian Proulx shared this during the recent Splitgate: Arena Reloaded season 2 update, mentioning that a small part of their team has started work on a new multiplayer shooter. He said, “If you’re a fan of games like Titanfall or Black Ops 3, we would love to hear from you.” That gives us a clue about the kind of gameplay they’re aiming for—something with the movement and combat style players love in those classic shooters.
Splitgate’s first game was a surprise hit, blending Halo-style shooting with Portal-like portals. After raising $100 million in funding, the studio had big plans. But their follow-up, Splitgate 2, didn’t quite hit the mark. It launched, then was pulled back to beta just weeks later, and the studio had to make some tough calls including layoffs. Even after relaunching as Splitgate: Arena Reloaded, the game struggled to regain its early buzz.
Given that background, it makes sense 1047 is eager to start fresh with a new title. Proulx called this new game a “movement shooter,” which fits with the vibe of Titanfall and Black Ops 3, both known for fast, fluid gameplay. It’s clear they’re focusing on multiplayer, just like Splitgate.
They want you to help test it
1047 isn’t keeping fans completely in the dark. They want players who love those kinds of shooters to get involved early. Playtesting is set to begin soon, and if you’re into that style of game, you can sign up to join. It’s a chance to get in on the ground floor and shape something new from the studio that brought you Splitgate.
While details are still thin, knowing the studio’s history helps set expectations. They’re coming off a rocky period but seem determined to recapture what made their first game special: tight gameplay and smart movement mechanics. If you enjoyed Titanfall’s fast-paced combat or Black Ops 3’s smooth multiplayer, this new project could be right up your alley.
For now, we wait for 1047 to share more. But if you want to be among the first to try their next shooter, keep an eye on their official channels and consider signing up for the upcoming playtests.
