How to Teleport to a Village in Minecraft

If you want to teleport to a village in Minecraft, you do not have to spend hours exploring different biomes. Villages are valuable locations where you can trade with villagers, gather resources, and interact with useful professions such as farmers, armorers, butchers, and more.

Instead of wandering the map hoping to find one, you can use simple in-game commands to locate and instantly teleport to a village in Minecraft. Below is a simple step-by-step guide to help you do it.

Teleporting to a Village in Minecraft

You can teleport to a village in Minecraft by first locating a village using a command and then teleporting to the coordinates it provides. This method works quickly and saves a lot of time compared to exploring manually. Follow these steps.

1. Make Sure Commands or Cheats Are Enabled

Before you can teleport to a village in Minecraft, you need to enable commands or cheats in your world.
In Minecraft Java Edition, they are called commands, while Bedrock Edition refers to them as cheats.

2. Turn on Commands in Minecraft Java Edition

You can enable commands when creating a new world.

  1. Create a new world.
  2. Find the Allow Commands option.
  3. Set it to ON.

If you already have an existing world, you can still enable commands:

  1. Press Esc to open the game menu.
  2. Select Open to LAN.
  3. Enable Allow Cheats.

Keep in mind that using LAN mode may allow other players on the same network to see your game.

  2. Go to the Cheats section.
  3. Turn on Activate Cheats.

In an existing world

  1. Pause the game.
  2. Open Settings.
  3. Scroll down and enable Activate Cheats.

Note that enabling cheats will disable achievements for that world.

2. Locate a Village Using Commands

/locate structure minecraft:village_desert
/locate structure minecraft:village_plains
/locate structure minecraft:village_savanna

/locate structure minecraft:village_taiga

After running the command, the game will display X, Y, and Z coordinates for the nearest village of that type. Make note of these numbers because you will need them for teleportation.

Replace the placeholders with your username and the coordinates you received from the locate command.

Example:

/tp Steve 250 70 -140

If the Y coordinate is not shown, you can use the following command instead:

/tp <your username> <x> ~ <z>

The tilde (~) automatically places you at the correct vertical position.

After running the command, you will immediately teleport to the village in Minecraft that you located. This method also works for finding and teleporting to other structures such as temples, mansions, and different biomes.
