Pearl Abyss Is Cooking Up a Crazy Open-World Monster Collector Called DokeV

You know Pearl Abyss, the folks behind Crimson Desert? Well, they’re switching gears big time. Instead of knights and brutal fights, they’re diving into a colorful, open-world adventure called DokeV. Think Pokémon, but with a wild urban twist and creatures that look like they jumped out of a crazy cartoon city.

From Medieval Fantasy to Monster Madness in the City

While Crimson Desert was all about medieval melee and massive fantasy landscapes, DokeV throws that out the window. This game is packed with quirky, bipedal creatures called Dokebi roaming around a chaotic cityscape. Imagine a husky wearing a sailor scarf, a panda with boxing gloves, and an armadillo-pineapple hybrid all chilling and battling in the same urban playground.

The trailer Pearl Abyss dropped back in 2019 shows kids skating around, summoning their Dokebi pals, and taking part in all sorts of fun stuff—from trying on funky clothes to battling giant mechanical monsters at construction sites. It’s bright, it’s weird, and it’s bursting with personality.

So, When Can We Play This Thing?

That’s the million-dollar question. Originally, DokeV was aiming for a 2023 release, but things have clearly shifted. After Crimson Desert launched in March 2026, Pearl Abyss confirmed their main team is now fully focused on wrapping up DokeV. Their CEO mentioned it’ll take about two to three years from now to finish and polish the game, which puts a rough estimate at around late 2027.

They’re building DokeV on the same BlackSpace engine as Crimson Desert, so expect it to look and feel next-gen, even if the vibe is completely different.

What Makes DokeV Stand Out in the Monster Collector Crowd

This isn’t just another Pokémon clone. The creatures are inspired by South Korean mythology and come with all sorts of wild designs—like a pink bear with a toucan beak or a cybernetic insect wielding a giant candy cane. Plus, there are jet-powered skateboards, llamas you can ride, and yes, lots of dancing. It’s playful and chaotic in a way that only Pearl Abyss can pull off.

While the studio has been quiet on updates recently, the buzz is that with the Crimson Desert launch behind them, DokeV development is picking up serious speed.

If you’re into open-world adventures with a fresh and funky creature collection twist, DokeV is definitely one to watch. Just don’t expect it anytime soon—patience will be key.
